Estimator
The Ideal Candidate:
Knowledge of industry practices as they relate to purchasing of raw materials (i.e. forgings, bearings, etc.)
Ability to plan, organize & execute flow of work
Exceptional interpersonal

Knowledge of theoretical manufacturing times
Team player with leadership abilities
Software aptitude; Vantage and Microsoft Office Suite considered an asset

Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems in a timely, cost effective manner.
Knowledge of SM QA policies within department will be considered an asset
Knowledge of pricing and industry practices to obtain the best profitability on an order
The Job:
Provide production estimates based on Estimating Procedure completed with accurate hours of manufacturing, material, subcontract & freight costs.
Deal with customers when technical questions need to be asked or alternative suggestions are recommended to complete quote.
Work with account managers to maintain above average customer satisfaction.
Generate BOM, when required, to meet customer specifications and/or requirements.
Work with Focus Factory Manager and Planner to ensure that all tooling required for job is costed and available.
Issuing RFQ's for materials required for job (forgings, bar stock, plate, etc.) as well as material requisitioned by Eng. (bearings, seals, hardware, etc.) and Production (special tooling).
Provide feedback on any delays which may jeopardize quote completion date and/or production delivery date.
Initiate 'what if' scheduling of job on Vantage to verify required delivery schedule is possible.
Review all available drawings and specifications for accurate & correct information as required to ensure a smooth transition to planning if the quote is successful.
Ensure all required documentation and reports including QA, NDT, DIR's, HT Reports, etc. is noted and costed in the quote.
Assist in contract review as required.
Work with Planner and Focus Factory Manager to address any special tooling and/or procedures that may be required to improve costs and/or quality levels.
Help resolve variances in estimated and actual production times and contribute to corrective action.
Help resolve discrepancies between quotes and travellers.
Ensure the Quality Assurance program is followed and documented especially Quality Records.
Assist Focus Factory Manager in development of production procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Initiate, document and maintain templates, BOM's, etc. as required to improve turnaround from quote to planning.
Assist in the development of production teams as required

A proven track record of results oriented leadership including efficient planning and costing/purchasing in a manufacturing environment preferably in gear making or gear repairs
