Lead Programmer

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Journeyman Machinist or equivalent
  • Certified in Mastercam or GibbsCAM Minimum of four years of experience in the operation of CNC mills Ability to understand and interpret engineering concepts and designs/blueprints Minimum of one year of experience programming CNC machines using either Mastercam or GibbsCAM
  • Microsoft Office Suite literacy

Personal Aptitudes:

  • Demonstrated initiative to assume responsibility and provide leadership
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to organize and facilitate multiple projects in an accurate timely manner.

The Job:

  • Provide accurate, timely, cost effective and efficient remote programming for CNC machines
  •  Liaise between planner and production on each job to ensure programming efficiency
  • Development and maintenance of program storage for future use
  • Maintain tooling inventory of all machines
  • Co-ordinate tooling requirements with Operator, Tool Room and Planner to ensure adequate tooling is available for all jobs
  • Development and documentation of training regime to ensure all operators are familiar with programming software capabilities and functionality
  • Development and maintenance of efficient programming procedures and protocols for each machine with the assistance of operators
  • Development, delivery and documentation of training for machine operators at basic, intermediate and advanced levels of programming
  • Assist in setup and running of jobs
  • Provide assistance to the machine operators in job setup, process and completion ensuring optimum efficiency for each job
